Wine week in New York

The client was hosting a celebration of wines in New York, sponsored by the Regulatory Council for the La Rioja Denomination of Origin. So, Rioja it was. One of my most popular designs, and one of my personal favourites – it is very "me". The simplicity of design, the balance of elements, the focusing of the attention on the wine glass, the contrast between the sweep of the coat to the strong verticals of the skyline. And of course, the very closed colour palette. All strong art deco themes.

Note that the windows use an identical motif to the jewellery.

Edinburgh detail

Discovered in Edinburgh, on Newington Road – a busy street out of the main city centre. The most beautiful art deco detailing around a doorway, matched by carved stone lions' heads at the top of the walls.

Gorgeous doorway surround: is it bronze? Would it shine up? Though it looks superb in the green.
